Dana Point fashion show raises funds for heart health 17-07-2012

Guardian Award recipients Dr. Bahar Sederati and Dr. Douglas Harrington, CEO of Aviir Diagnostics, are shown with Estrella Harrington, president and co-founder of Guard A Heart Foundation during the foundation's fashion show fundraiser held Saturday evening at The Strand in Dana Point. The VIP and celebrity-studded event featured fashions by Tommy Bahama, Marisa Kenson and Dr. Bahar Couture. 100 percent of approximately $25,000 in net proceeds went directly to Guard A Heart Foundation, dedicated to fighting heart disease, the nation's number one killer, by creating awareness and making prevention a part of everyday life for Americans.

he Strand in Dana Point provided an elegant and picturesque backdrop Saturday for the Guard A Heart Foundation's inaugural VIP fashion show fundraiser, which netted more than $25,000 in support of its "Know Your Risk, Save a Life" campaign.
With billowing clouds and balmy weather making for a semi-tropical ambiance, over 150 guests were shuttled to the event from the beach parking area via limousine, providing attendees an intimate and friendly atmosphere to meet and mingle on their way to the beautifully appointed clubhouse.
Upon arrival, guests were treated to signature Tommy Bahama cocktails and a mouthwatering assortment of appetizers provided by participating restaurants including Tommy Bahama, Gemmell's, K'ya Bistro and Vintage Steakhouse.
Starting the evening off in style, the USMC Color Guard escorted Ms. America, Nicole Rash, who sang a heartwarming rendition of the National Anthem to rousing applause.
A lively fashion show featuring the latest designs by Tommy Bahama Fashions, Marisa Kensonand Dr. Bahar Couture soon took center stage as a flock of models made their way around the pool area in elegant style.

Though Guard A Heart is a fairly new organization on the social scene, ever since I met the wonderful leadership and staff at Guard A Heart Foundation, learning more about my health and heart risks has become top of mind. By providing a level of awareness to many new audiences and supporters, just like those in attendance on Saturday, their mission to fight heart disease by creating awareness and making prevention a part of the everyday lifestyles of Americans will continue to grow.
And, because heart disease remains the nation's number one killer, Guard a Heart Foundation also provides funding for individuals who are unable to pay for cardiac risk assessments.
Now that warms my heart!
